Entry and visas
Citizens of more than 90 states enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days; many others use the e-visa at e-visa.gov.uz (issued in ~2-3 working days). Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the trip. We confirm the exact regime for your citizenship with every booking.
Registration
Foreign guests must be registered during their stay; hotels do this automatically for each night. Keep hotel registration slips (paper or electronic) until departure.
Customs and money
Cash above the equivalent of USD 2,000 must be declared on entry. The national currency is the Uzbek soum (UZS); cards are widely accepted in cities, cash is useful at bazaars and in Khiva's old town. Export of antiques and items over 50 years old requires a permit.
Health
No mandatory vaccinations are required for entry. Tap water is not recommended for drinking — bottled water is inexpensive and everywhere. Summer heat (June–August) calls for sun protection and unhurried middays; we build itineraries accordingly. Travel medical insurance is strongly recommended and can be included in your package.
Safety
Uzbekistan is among the safest destinations in Asia. Usual city precautions apply. Our guides carry the emergency contacts for every stage; the national emergency number is 112.
Culture and dress
Uzbekistan is secular and welcoming. At working mosques, madrasas and mausoleums cover shoulders and knees; a light scarf solves every situation. Photography inside shrines is normally allowed without flash — when in doubt, ask. Accepting offered tea is the shortest way into the country's heart.
